Knovva Website Design

Published by j-smith on

Knovva Academy was changing directions with their company, from producing educational content for students to providing educational consulting to student seeking higher education. Now, they serve their clients academic needs. Whether addressing organizational, curricular, technological, or strategic goals, they draw on industry best-practices, leading research, and a human-centered design process to improve their clients educational capacity. With this new direction, they wanted to redesign the website and tasked me to come up with their new design.

Challenges

The challenge here was understanding who your ideal audience was and what goals do you want to accomplish with the new website. Knovva was still in the early stages of figuring these things out, so they couldn’t provide me with too much information early on in the in development of the designs. They also weren’t sure about how different they wanted the site from the previous and heavily relying on my creativity to come up with some mock-ups that could help them start brainstorming.

Solutions

The first thing I did was look-up competitor consulting companies and visited there webpages to get an understanding on how they catering to their audiences with their designs. I then used this as inspiration to help me create mockups for Knovva and get them to start brainstorming about their needs and what they like. In the meetings I hosted with the team, I was able to get them to tell me that their target audience was high school students and their parents. Also the consulting inspired website mockups was a style they were looking for, but they still wanted to maintain some brand colors and illustrated graphics that the previous website had. They needed this site to be eye catching for students, but also serious enough that their parents know that they are dealing with professionals. With all this information I was able to recreate their webpages into a professionally fun and eye-catching consulting website.
